Our SabkiShiksha Story
From Professor to Social Entrepreneur
Dr Shradha Vasisht has always believed that education is the most powerful investment a society can make. A bright student since childhood, her academic journey is defined by dedication and perseverance.
Her career graph was equally impressive. She served as an Assistant Professor at Delhi University and later worked as a National Training Head with a renowned NGO. However, it was not the designation or salary that defined her purpose; it was the realities she encountered while working closely with communities across different parts of India.
"I realized that while academic qualifications were essential, what truly mattered was connecting with people."
The Realization
During her travels to remote and Naxalite-affected regions such as Pakur in Jharkhand, Dr. Shradha experienced moments that left a lasting impact on her. In one such instance, after removing her high-heeled sandals to enter a training centre, she noticed a group of children giggling as they curiously looked at her footwear.
Innocently, they asked, "Yeh aapke shehar mein paise ki milti hai kya?" (Does this woman have money in her slippers?). That single question revealed a harsh reality—basic aspects of urban life such as packaged drinking water, internet access, and mobile phones were completely unfamiliar to them.
She further noticed a similar picture of opportunity and access among parents in Nuh (Mewat), just 50 kilometres from the national capital. Many mothers expressed their desire to educate their daughters at least till Class 10, while some fathers shared dreams of seeing their daughters become teachers—but poverty and lack of guidance stood in their way.
The intent was present; the awareness was missing. This realization sowed the seed of SabkiShiksha, an initiative aimed at ensuring that no child is deprived of education simply because their parents do not know where to begin.
Starting SabkiShiksha was far from easy. It required Dr Shradha to step away from a secure and high-paying career, impacting her income, savings, and family life. However, her commitment to serving society outweighed every personal sacrifice.
In 2018, she launched SabkiShiksha on YouTube, with a simple yet powerful goal—to make educational information accessible to all. Gradually, she expanded to platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Her videos gained immense traction because they solved real problems: How to fill out a form? When do dates open? What is the eligibility for a scheme? She began sharing clear and practical guidance on school admissions, government schemes like Ladli Scheme, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, and important social issues such as girls’ education.
Thousands of families began securing school admissions based on information shared through SabkiShiksha. The initiative was no longer just content; it had become a reliable guide.
